The second event that has a great impact on making south central what is it today is L.A riots. This event occured April 29, 1992 where the convictions of the police officers that brutually beat rodney king were found non guilty of all charges. that infuritated black people and that hows the riots started. This event happened over a period of 3 days and resulted in 53 deaths and over 1 billion in damages. During the riot a white man named reginald denny was beated alsmot to death and same tihng to this guy named fidel lopez.The impact of this riots was that ritoing was th only way that people atually responded due to the racism and inequality back in the day. Not only were their riots in Los Angeles but also in oakland. nevada, chicago,arizona, and many other places.
The third and last event that has a great impact on maing South Central what it is today is Gang history. Gangs were originally started by whites and these gangs were incuded in these cities Huntington Park, Bell, South Gate, Compton, and Inglewoood., these white gangs use to terrorize and harass people form color. That created latino and black gnags to protect them and people formt he white gangs. due to the white flight gangs had almsot stopped then then came the civil right movement. man gangmembers joined the black panthers and the brown berets to fight inequality.The goverment did not like that therefore they created an organization nicknamed coinintelpro to harass, and even assinate the black panthere and brown berets. then gangs started coming back and some new ones such as 18 st, bloods,crips,surenos, e.t.c. This is how gangs started but today the crime rate is low and slowly decending down.
My three chocies were the watts riots,la riots,and gang history. i picked these three most important events because they shaped the way south central is today.i think South central willl change for the better hopefully gangs willl eventualllly dissapear and south central will be one of the msot peacful cititesin california.
